Students will be able to see the most interesting places of the Czech nuclear power plants Temelín and Dukovany directly in their classrooms. From April, CEZ Group launches an interesting educational program for primary and secondary schools. The interactive project “Meeting with Energy” will bring operators of the Temelín and Dukovany nuclear power plants, university lecturers and independent energy experts into classrooms to discuss key topics of the current and future energy sector with pupils. Virtual tours of the Temelín and Dukovany nuclear power plants, unconventional physics experiments and, above all, discussions with energy experts. These are the main points of the ninety-minute “Meeting with Energy” program that CEZ is launching for primary and secondary schools starting in April. “We know from experience that teachers are very interested in our educational projects. Moreover, the more interactive and illustrative the programme is, the more interesting it is for students. That’s why we supplemented the experts’ talk with as many physical experiments as possible. In addition, thanks to the virtual reality ReakTour, children will be able to see the technology almost live,” said Kateřina Bartůšková, Head of the CEZ Group’s Information Center and Education Department.

Thanks to special virtual reality goggles, students will see the most guarded and interesting places of Czech nuclear power plants, such as reactor halls, control rooms or the interiors of cooling towers. Experts will introduce current trends in the energy sector to schoolchildren in an understandable and entertaining way. The discussion will focus on nuclear and renewables, but also on small modular reactors, electromobility and energy storage. “We will be happy if the meetings interest the students and perhaps even motivate them to work in the energy sector, which is undoubtedly a fascinating field of the future,” added Kateřina Bartůšková.

The first seminar will take place on 8. April at the Gymnasium in Sobeslav in South Bohemia. “Meeting with Energy” is part of CEZ Group’s extensive educational program. The project is free for schools and can be ordered at www.cez.cz/setkanisenergii. Before the end of the school year, ČEZ plans to hold at least six dozen meetings in schools across the Czech Republic.

The CEZ Group’s educational program includes various types of internships for high school and university students, programs for elementary school students, school excursions to CEZ Group facilities and information centers, or live tours from the interactive TV studio Virtually at the Power Plant. Thanks to these activities, ČEZ manages to continuously cover its staffing needs despite the usually demanding requirements for technical education or professional competence.
